With a nickname like The Olympic Village, the winter fanfare in Lake Placid is real. From skiing to ice skating to bobsledding and more, Lake Placid offers an endless array of snowy activities (you can even catch a ride on a dogsled!). What’s more, all of the summertime trails in Keene Valley are easily accessible in the winter by snowshoe or cross-country skis, letting you scratch that hiking itch too.

In the spring and summer months, outdoor recreation in Lake Placid can’t be beat. Enjoy late-season skiing—either downhill or cross-country—at the nearby Whiteface Mountain, or celebrate the world warming up with a hike through Keene Valley, then finish your day with some s’mores around our firepit!

It’s not summer in Lake Placid without some kind of water activity! Launch one of our complimentary kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards right from the hotel’s backyard and spend a day exploring the lake. Rent a mountain bike and hit some beginner-friendly or expert-level trails. Or, for a one-of-a-kind mountain experience, ride the 1.4-mile-long Cliffside Coaster, which follows the 1980 Olympic bobsled track.

Fall might be our favorite time in Lake Placid—the scenery is just so captivating! One of our favorite ways to enjoy nature’s displays is with a gondola ride at the Olympic Jumping Complex. Of course, if you’d rather be in the thick of the action, Keene Valley—colloquially referred to as “Home of the High Peaks”—offers miles of meandering trails and incredible views.
